Build-Your-Own Pizza at The Pizza Press

Hamlin Town Center

The 900-acre development off Independence Parkway, known as Hamlin Town Center, is quickly becoming a Winter Garden hot spot. It is still in the early stages of growth but already has some great businesses worth checking out. The area combines upscale living and everyday conveniences. Hamlin offers restaurants, shopping, office space, and a luxury theatre, all nestled among sparkling lakes. A California-based pizza chain, The Pizza Press, was one of the first restaurants to open in the area.

The Pizza Press is located in the fourth quadrant of the Hamlin development. It’s at the opposite end of the Bosphorus, a Turkish restaurant. This strip of building is also home to Planet Smoothie and the French Cafe. Winter Garden residents and visitors quickly fell in love with The Pizza Press’s custom pizzas, salads, and desserts.

On the Scene with Analice at The Pizza Press

Analice from the Erica Diaz Team recently went on location to the Pizza Press, where she sat down to chat with Christian. He shared a lot of tasty information about the restaurant, and we’re excited to share it with you in this article.

The Sun Pizza

During her visit, Analice got a behind-the-scenes look at how the Sun pizza is made from start to finish. The Sun is one of their most popular signature items. It comes with red sauce, mozzarella cheese, honey-smoked ham, bourbon bacon, aged sharp cheddar cheese, pineapple, grape tomatoes, and scallions.

Click the video below to watch Analice’s visit to The Pizza Press and see how they publish the Sun from start to finish.

About The Pizza Press

We love the theme behind The Pizza Press, a classic 1920s newspaper print shop. The idea is to allow the customer to “publish their story” by creating a pizza that is unique to their liking. Here, you’ll find specialty pizzas named after major American newspapers. Then, the talented people behind the line who build the pizzas are called “editors.” The Pizza Press was founded in 2012 in Anaheim, California, and has expanded to over 30 locations nationwide.

With plenty of space, The Pizza Press is a 2,600-square-foot dine-in restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The idea behind The Pizza Press is to allow you to design your pizzas or pick from a menu of specialty pizzas. They are then made right before your eyes. The idea is for friends and family to enjoy good food and not feel rushed to return to the day’s business. This ideal location is perfect for families, for happy hour, or a date night.

Publish Your Pizza

If you choose to “publish your own” pizza, begin by selecting from various sauces to use as the base. You could go the traditional route and opt for tasty red sauce. Or change it up and start with spicy red, white, or even pink sauce. Then, move down the line to the cheeses. There’s a variety of cheese options, ranging from mozzarella and ricotta to gorgonzola and aged sharp cheddar. After your pizza has just the right amount of cheese, move down the line to the rest of the toppings.

All toppings are fresh and locally sourced, and the possibilities are endless. Meat lovers can add bacon, pepperoni, ham, sausage or chicken. Then, vegetable options add a colorful crunch to your delicious pie. Choose from black olives, pineapple, onions, mushrooms, peppers, and spinach, and then top it off with sauces, dressings, and premium “toppers” like arugula and cilantro.

Choose a Specialty Pizza

If you just can’t decide, there is an entire menu of specialty pizzas!

  • The Herald: White sauce, mozzarella, grilled chicken breast, ricotta, grape tomato, red onion, and crimini mushrooms, finished with fresh basil.
  • The Sun: Red sauce, mozzarella, honey-smoked ham, bourbon bacon, aged sharp cheddar, pineapple, grape tomato, and scallion.
  • The Press Cheese – Red sauce, mozzarella, one cheese
  • The Daily – One sauce, mozzarella, one topping
  • The Times – Extra virgin olive oil, mozzarella, chicken, grape tomato, red onion, smoked gouda, finished with fresh cilantro and Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce
  • The Tribune – Red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, red onion, mushroom, roasted red bell peppers, sweet Italian link sausage, Kalamata olives, ricotta
  • The Chronicle – Extra virgin olive oil, mozzarella, imported artichoke hearts, grape tomato, red onion, crimini mushroom, chevre, roasted red bell peppers, finished with fresh basil and basil pesto

Allergy Friendly

Do you have a specific food allergy or dietary preference? The Pizza Press takes all this into consideration and offers gluten-free options, including pizzas! This location offers gluten-free pizza dough, and vegans can substitute their cheese for Daiya—all you have to do is ask!

Final Steps to Publishing Your Pizza

After your pizza has gone through the final editing process, it goes into an electric oven and is cooked right before your eyes. The extreme temperatures mean your pizza masterpiece is ready in about 3.5 minutes and ready for you to enjoy. Complete your meal by choosing a local beer from the tap—there are over 20 to choose from!

Beyond the Pizza

If you’re not in the mood for pizza? You can still enjoy The Pizza Press for lunch or dinner because they have other great menu items besides pizza. People rave over their wings almost as much as their pizzas. They have a few wing flavors, so there’s something for everyone. The salads are another hit menu item. You can pick from one of their signature salads or easily publish your salad just like you would publish your pizza (minus the cooking part.)

Don’t forget about the desert! They have a deep dish cookie topped with ice cream that is sure to hit the spot!
