One of the landmarks in Montverde is the local college preparatory school, Montverde Academy. With over 6 Varsity basketball teams with international basketball recruiters, Montverde is regularly ranked top 3 in the nation for high school basketball. Historically speaking, the school opened in 1912 in a tiny, two-room wooden building, and has grown to become one of the most sought after college prep schools in the area. Montverde Academy inspires students to become leaders with a focus on innovation in athletics, global vision and offers a rigorous academic curriculum, as well as extensive arts programming, student clubs and boarding opportunities.

Montverde Academy isn’t the only great school in the area, however. Montverde residents send their children to Grassy Lake Elementary, East Ridge Middle or Lake Minneola High, or choose from private school options such as New Hope Christian Academy or Citrus Heights Academy.

Families enjoy spending evenings and weekends out on the water, and the local lakes provide plenty of opportunities for fishing and boating as a family. While Montverde doesn’t have a wide range of entertainment options within the city limits, residents are just minutes from shopping, movie theatres, and restaurants in Winter Garden, and only thirty minutes from the theme parks.
