Discover why Clermont is one of Central Florida’s fastest growing cities for adults 55+!
Central Florida is home to many active adult communities, and that’s no surprise to us. After all, out of the top 20 places to retire in the U.S. according to U.S. News, 11 Florida cities made the list! Orlando ranked number 18 out of all the cities in the U.S. for top places to retire, with the warm weather, fun entertainment options, and moderate cost of living all weighing into that impressive ranking.
Located about twenty miles west of Orlando’s city center is the multifaceted town of Clermont, Florida. Clermont has become known for its rolling hills, pristine lakes, and quiet neighborhoods. This city’s popularity among retirees (and near-retirees) has increased exponentially over the years, leading to the development of numerous active adult communities. While parts of Clermont are known for their thriving short-term rental communities, other parts are made up of residential neighborhoods, home to families and other locals who love Clermont’s slower pace and down-to-earth aesthetic.
If you’re looking to buy a home in Clermont and you’re interested in active adult communities, you’ve come to the right place! We have worked with hundreds of happy homeowners to find them the best communities for their lifestyle, and today we’re sharing our insider knowledge to help guide you to your own new home. Read on as we turn the spotlight to Clermont’s most popular active adult communities! Also known as 55+ communities, active adult communities were created to meet the needs of homebuyers nearing retirement age who wanted a place to live while remaining active in their later years. These communities are similar to other residential communities in that they usually include single-family homes and/or condominiums, townhomes, apartments, or villas owned by the residents. The biggest difference between these communities is, as you’ve probably guessed, the age requirement to live there. In most 55+ communities, at least one resident in the home must be age 55 or older.
So, what makes these communities “active?” Usually, the communities are planned with amenities to appeal to active adults. Think swimming pools, golf courses, clubhouses, sports courts, walking and biking trails, and more. The HOAs (Homeowner’s Associations) of these communities also love to plan activities that engage their residents and enhance their daily living. There are many benefits to living in active adult communities! Perhaps one of the biggest benefits is being among people of a similar age and lifestyle, offering opportunities to socialize and engage. These communities are generally quieter and mostly kid-free, as well.
Most active adult communities are also built near local conveniences such as shopping, health care centers, and restaurants. Some communities even include such conveniences as part of the neighborhood itself, allowing residents to walk or drive golf carts right to them. Reducing travel and gas expenses can be a huge benefit!
One more benefit offered by many active adult communities is the inclusion of basic home maintenance in the community’s HOA fees. These communities might cover things such as house painting or exterior pressure washing, routine lawn care, and other common home maintenance items. These benefits make active adult communities especially appealing to 55+ adults! Now that you know more about active adult communities, you’re probably ready to learn about the communities available in beautiful Clermont, Florida. Here are five active adult communities you should know:
