Douglas and Karen Sharrott
Mary Jo recently had the pleasure of helping Douglas and Karen with their out-of-state home buying experience. They were living in Long Island, New York, and ready to move to Central Florida. While Long Island was home, Douglas and Karen were ready for a change. It was time to leave the cold winters behind, for tropical weather all year round.
Douglas and Karen frequently visited Central Florida while they were living in Long Island. Therefore they knew the area and had a good idea of where they wanted to live. Doctor Phillips was their ideal location. Located in the middle of everything, with theme parks all around and just a short drive to the beach.
Lower taxes were another big draw for the couple looking to move to Central Florida. They also loved the homes in the area, they are much different than New York-style homes. The overall lifestyle that comes with living in Florida is what Douglas and Karen looked forward to the most!
Out of State House-Hunting with the Erica Diaz Team
Once Douglas and Karen connected with the Erica Diaz Team, the house-hunting process began. Initially, the Erica Diaz Team provided the couple with email videos of the home the couple had their eyes on. Along with a detailed description of the interior and exterior of the house, a prior survey, and other home information. Mary Jo then took them on a home tour via Facetime, answering any questions they had.
Next, the couple booked a trip to town to visit the house. Mary Jo gave them a guided tour of the house and their soon-to-be Vizcaya neighborhood. After returning to Long Island, Mary Jo helped them quickly resolve homebuying issues remotely. Mary Jo then arranged for a local title company to handle the closing, and she worked with the owner to take care of things that occasionally arose.
What was your favorite thing about working with the Erica Diaz Team?
When we asked Douglas and Karen what their experience was like with Mary Jo this is what they said!
“She is kind; a true professional and a pleasure to work with. After closing, we entered our new home and saw a beautiful “Welcome” sign provided by Mary Jo, that we now proudly display. Buying a house over a thousand miles away, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, could have been stressful, but Mary Jo took away our anxiety by promptly resolving issues and ensuring that the purchase process was smooth and straightforward. Being a former non-Floridian herself, she knew exactly how to address our concerns.”

Doug and Angela Olesen
When Doug and Angela were transferred to Central Florida due to a job transfer, they knew they would need to find a home before they actually moved. This meant they would be house hunting while they still lived in another city. While they did not live out of state, they did live out of town, making the house-hunting process just the same as if they lived out of state.
Out of State House Hunting with the Erica Diaz Team
Doug and Angela lived in West Palm Beach, Florida when they contacted Mary Jo to help them with their home buying process. Since the couple did live in Florida, they were able to arrange some times to come to town and view some homes in person. Each time they came to town, Mary Jo always had several homes for them to look at. She also helped them put together competitive bids. This was incredibly important due to the current market.

John and Mary Brodkowski
John and Mary recently found themselves moving from Brunswick, Ohio to Central Florida. Because they lived out of town, and the Covid pandemic, much of their home buying process would have to be done from out of state. Once they connected with Nick, they began the search for their new Central Florida Home.
Moving to Central Florida was an easy decision for John and Mary. They love the attractions, Walt Disney World and Universal Studios in particular. Plus their daughter lives in Winter Garden, and moving close to her is something everyone looked forward to.
Out of State House Hunting with the Erica Diaz Team
Due to the COVID situation, the couple was unable to travel to town to do their house hunting. Luckily they connected with Nick and he was able to assist them even from out of state. He would visit different communities and send pictures along with information about the homes. He also followed up on places that the couple found online. Nick had previously met the couple from one of their prior visits, so he knew what their tastes were which definitely helped.
